3. Hosting and Infrastructure

We host our website and the extension backend with the following provider:

Netcup

The provider is netcup GmbH, Daimlerstraße 25, 76185 Karlsruhe, Germany. The website and the extension database (Pocketbase) are operated on netcup servers in Germany.

The use of netcup is based on Art. 6 (1) lit. f GDPR. We have a legitimate interest in the most reliable presentation and secure provision of our services. A data processing agreement (DPA) has been concluded.

4. Data Collection in the Browser Extension

Account Creation

To use the extension, you can create an account. For this purpose, your email address is collected and stored. This is used for authentication and providing the core functions of the software (Art. 6 (1) lit. b GDPR).

Permissions

The extension uses the following browser permissions:

  • • storage: Used to save your login session locally in the browser. This keeps you logged in even after closing the browser, without having to re-enter your data.
  • • tabs: This permission is required to enable the extension to interact with the web pages you visit (e.g., reading the current URL for processing within the extension).

Stored User Content

As part of using the extension, the following content is stored on our servers:

  • • Links (YouTube URLs): Shared video links you send via the extension.
  • • Messages: Text messages you send along with a shared link.
  • • Friend requests: Sent and received friend requests.

Once a shared link has been marked as watched, or a friend request has been accepted or rejected, the corresponding data is automatically and permanently deleted after 30 days. Personal data (in particular the email address) is retained until the account is deleted.

Encryption

Transmitted content (links, messages, friend requests) is currently not end-to-end encrypted. Communication is encrypted via HTTPS. End-to-end encryption is planned for a future version.

Deletion of Your Data

You can delete your account and all associated data (email address, stored links, messages, and friend requests) at any time with immediate effect. Deletion can be initiated directly within the extension or requested by email at mail@lukasweihrauch.de.
